As always it seems the Marimello will need to be firing up the teleporter for this weekend...but it uses so much gas...

Tonight:
Craft Night in Los Angeles, CA. As always, the fabulous JP will be hosting Craft Night over at Akbar on Sunset and Fountain in Silverlake. It's always a party and the drinks are both delicious and cheap!
Speaking of drinking...if you're Austin area, toddle down to Ninety Proof and raise a glass or two to improve healthcare in Austin. $2 from every drink will support the People's Community Clinic.

Tomorrow, January 17th:
The Pasadena Design and Bead Show will be happening from 10 to 6 until the 20th at the Pasadena Hilton in Pasadena, CA. You need to register to attend, so check out the site. 250 vendor and professionals will be there.

Friday, January 18th:
CRAFT UPRISING: Creating a Design Revolution, Biddle Gallery, Wyandotte MI, 6-9PM. Check out the site for more info.

Saturday, January 19th:
The Market NYC, happens every Saturday and Sunday at 368 Mulberry St. Between Prince and Houston, NYC.
Artist and Fleas is also happening every Saturday and Sunday on 6th between Bedford and Berry, NYC.
And though it's not particularly crafty, it still looks like fun: The Lower East Side Girls Club is performing Saturday at 3:30 in NYC. Visit the site for details.

Craft Communication Congress

Everyone has already written up the Craft Communication Congress, but we really like this link fest on We Make Money Not Art. Call us lazy, but it is a nice round up.

Of course we wish we'd been at the congress. We're obviously obsessed with discussions about making, weird science, and trips to Berlin, so we're particularly sad about missing this one. But of course, we're involved in a Craft Congress of our own and Maker Faire is coming up sooner than you think.

There's something to be said for sitting around knitting on your couch with the cat, twirling simple yarn into something useful, but on the other hand, participating in events like the Congress or the Faire puts the whole handmade movement in perspective. It's a bit of an ego trip, but who doesn't want to hang out with like minded people and ride silly motorcycles?

Oooooo New Etsy Plugin

Buying Handmade, or at least searching for it just got a little easier with Etsy's new plugin for your web browser. Sure it only works for tags and titles, but whatever. If you have Firefox 2+ or Internet Explorer 7, why not give it a try? Etsy says, "You can try it elsewhere if you’re feeling adventurous."
